Perfect for chilly days, pull on this cotton and alpaca blend hat and enjoy the comfortable warm fit. Knitted with a merino wool and organic cotton blend that creates a subtle yet distinctive five-colour fleck design.
Fibre
The alpacas are responsibly farmed in the Peruvian highlands. Alpacas' impact is light on the land they graze which makes them one of the most environmentally friendly animals. Our wool fibres come from Argentina and Uruguay and are mulesing-free.
To ensure the structural stability and durability of the yarn, a polyamide fibre is used. We aim to avoid synthetic fibres in our collections, but in this occasion it is to give the alpaca yarn structural stability and the best possible quality.
Organic cotton is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) from the organic fibre source to the spinning of the yarn. GOTS is the leading standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria and is backed by independent third-party certification. We are working on extending the certification to cover the entire textile supply chain.
Fabric
Our organic cotton and alpaca blend knits create lovely warm and cosy winter jumpers and cardigans. One of our favourite yarns- alpaca blend works perfectly with organic cotton. The cotton gives the fabric structure and alpaca the warmth and softness. The fibres are 'top' dyed before being spun into yarn. This process results in beautiful melange colours and a softer hand feel. Each panel is knitted to the shape of the garment which therefore creates less wastage. Panels and trims are attached using a hand-linking machine, resulting in a premium, high-quality garment.
Factory
The knits are produced in close collaboration with one of our longest standing suppliers, a small knitter based in Dongguan, China. We have enjoyed working with owner Robert and his dedicated team, Ceci and Carmen, for over 20 years. Their knowledge, experience and attention to detail is second to none. We are proud to have them as part of our team.
